We are a local tree surgery and small scale forestry company that sources our timber from the Lake district. The majority of the timber used to produce our firewood is cut from neglected coppice woodlands or small scale woodland improvement projects in the south lakes area. The cutting of these trees encourages bio-diversity and improves the quality of the remaining timber on the sites we work. By sourcing the wood locally we minimise our "wood miles" and keep both the employment and benefits to nature local.
All our timber is cut during the winter, to minimise the moisture content before cutting to log size. The logs are then cut during the spring and early summer (I like to have all my firewood done and drying by the first day of June). This gives the logs 5 to 6 months to dry.
The logs are 8-10" (20 - 25cm) in length and about 5" (15cm) in width. If you require larger logs (for dog grates, larger stoves etc) then an order in the spring (for early delivery or drying and later delivery) is advisable.
The standard unit of delivery is a cubic metre of loose tipped logs. This can be from 1 to 4 cubic metres per delivery - dependant on access and your storage capacity.
Delivery is free within a 10 mile radius. Delivery beyond that can also be free for larger orders, or orders that can be combined to give a full load, e.g. multiple orders to Kendal or Windermere.
All our logs are hardwood. They will be of mixed species including, Beech, Sycamore, Ash, Birch, Maple, Alder, Hazel and occasionally Holly.
We can also supply kiln dried kindling. Delivery is free when ordered in addition to a firewood order.
